Is Spring coming?
There is definitely a shift in the air!
I woke up this morning to a sparkly frost covering every inch of the farm which was beautiful. It was crispy underfoot and caught the back of my throat when I breathed. Just glorious if a bit nippy on the fingers! Brodie my Highland pony was all fluffed up and cosy. Betsy, his friend was cosy as a duvet under her rug. However, it all changed so fast.
As the frost disappeared and I walked the dogs, the birdlife began to stretch their wings and go about their daily gossiping and daily jobs. It is amazing how the farm goes from a wintry silence with just a few ducks and local pheasants and partridge (they take cover at ours over the winter from the neighbouring shoots!) to a hustle and bustle atmosphere. The oyster catchers, curlews and lapwings all came back last week which is a joy to see. I adore the colours of the oyster catchers.
I reckon that Spring must be close by as the frost disappeared so quickly. I can even see wee spikes of daffodils appearing in the borders so hope is there!
There is still an underlying sadness with us all as we miss Freddie. However, I see him out the corner of my eye all the time so know he is watching me and telling me to get on with it. Life must go on. The dogs still need walked, everything still needs fed and I need to poo pick the horse field every day! Eyes forward, hold the love and keep smiling x
